“If you work at McDonald’s, you making money moves.”

Cardi B. is giving a mini pep talk to a not-so-mini crowd of 6,000 people during her sold-out performance for MoMA PS1’s Warm Up music series. The rapper, outfitted in a red laced gown by Laquan Smith, closes her time on stage with a few anecdotes relating to her hit song “Bodak Yellow”.

It’s hard not to be impressed by Cardi B’s climb to fame. Her humble beginnings includes stripping, promoting her larger than life personality on Instagram, securing a lead role on LHHNY and soon after seriously pursuing a Hip Hop career.

Today her track “Bodak Yellow” is the highest-charting single by a female rapper since 2014, following Nick Minaj’s “Anaconda”.

On Saturday A$AP Ferg, who shared the headline with Cardi, announced her as a “real one in the game right now”.
