In the X-Men mythos Jubilee has the ability to generate pyrotechnic energy plasmoids from her hands. These energies obey her mental control, traveling where she directs them, arranging themselves in various shapes, and exploding when she wishes. As the DJ, Jubilee does the same thing with music – whether its compiling cohesive energies into playlists or curating explosive amounts of feel good dance vibes at parties. If there was ever a more fitting plug for Indeed’s “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life“, this would be it.

I discovered Jubilee at a Boiler Room party in Los Angeles in 2016. Two years later she’s still the boss DJ I’d ditch a ratchet Hip Hop party for (literally my cryptonite) any day of the week.

The Florida native moved to NYC in 2003 and stumbled upon DJing: “I would literally have my iPod and an aux cord at this random spot in NYC and just put my playlist on.” Fast forward today and the self-made music tour-de-force boasts being the only girl signed to the Mixpak label, closing MoMA PS1’s 2018 Warm Up series, and having two critically acclaimed projects under her belt: After Hours and self-titled EP Jubilee.
